Kevin McCloud and his long-running renovation series Grand Designs are drawing attention this week following a clutch of new stories. An Edinburgh couple is currently residing in a caravan while their ambitious Grand Designs build takes shape, and one Grand Designs subject faced a blow after a driving test centre was demolished to prepare the site for a family home.

McCloud also spoke to The Times about his personal life beyond the camera, revealing he once owned a Land Rover that was powered by chip fat. The show continues to draw attention in Australia and the UK for the ambition behind its builds and the real-life drama that follows them.
