Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has pulled a death warrant for William Lee Thompson, 74, who was convicted of murder in Miami-Dade County. It is the first time DeSantis has withdrawn a death warrant. A second execution was still scheduled for Tuesday.
The reversal came days after a failed execution attempt involving Christa Pike brought new questions over Florida's execution process. The governor provided no statement for pulling the warrant for Thompson in particular.
